Polish MP detained in Belarus

    WARSAW, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Polish MP Jaroslaw Jagiella was arrested in Belarus on Tuesday and charged with joining an illegal opposition demonstration, Polish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Pawel Dobrowolski confirmed.

    According to the Polish Press Agency, Jaroslaw Jagiella's case will be brought up before the Belarussian court on Wednesday.

    Poland's Foreign Minister said on Monday, that the election in Belarus was severely flawed and the political campaign before the election had been held in an atmosphere of fear created by the authorities and numerous acts of repression against members of theBelarussian society.

    Earlier President Lukashenko accused Poland and the Polish minority in Belarus of plotting against him, interfering in Belarussian affairs and seeking to provoke mass protests against his government. Enditem
