SHENZHEN, Feb. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Dubbed as "the
window to China's economic reform", Shenzhen, in south China's Guangdong
Province, still faces a major tax default problem with 758 firms on its black
list last year.
The municipal tax collector on Tuesday published the tax default list, unveiling a total
default amount of 212 million yuan(26.5 million U.S. dollars).
Since it was designated as the first special economic
zone of China in 1980, Shenzhen has witnessed an annual average gross domestic
product (GDP) growth rate of 28 percent, leaving other regions in the country
far behind. And it has been leading all Chinese cities in per-sq-km GDP output
value and tax revenue.
The firms were given a 15-day grace period to pay off
the tax, said the tax bureau, adding that "otherwise, it would implement
mandatory measures to take the tax." Enditem |
