ATHOC to offer wireless services during Olympics
www.chinaview.cn 2004-04-08 16:12:18

BEIJING, April.8 (Xinhuanet) -- The 2004 Athens Olympic Games will be the first Games ever to offer access via mobile phones to the Internet and the Games information system by wireless data communication services.

Organizers say Olympic mobile telephone users will be able to access all data available on the INFO2004 information system or receive special messages addressed to all users or particular user groups.

The advanced technology is offered by Greece's biggest telecommunication company COSMOTE's network and the GPRS connection facility.

It is estimated that approximately 12,500 people, including 4,000 customers and 7,500 members of the workforce, will be able to access the information system.
